Trump Says Gasoline Will Fall Below $2 After the Election

President Trump says gasoline prices will fall below $2 per gallon “right after the election,” despite oil currently trading above $100 per barrel.
“Oil prices are going to be tumbling downward,” Trump said.
“For gasoline, we’ll get ’em below $2 a gallon.”
AAA currently puts the national average gasoline price at roughly $4.22 per gallon, while diesel has climbed to a record $5.94.
That makes Trump’s target an extremely aggressive call from current levels.
Reaching sub-$2 gasoline would likely require a major decline in crude prices, stronger refinery supply, lower geopolitical risk or some combination of those factors.
For markets, the claim adds another layer to the energy outlook heading into the election, especially with high fuel prices still feeding into transportation costs and inflation expectations.
