Bitcoin Core Reportedly Revises Vulnerability Disclosure Policy as AI Accelerates Bug Discovery
Bitcoin Core developers have reportedly updated their security disclosure approach in response to artificial intelligence making certain software vulnerabilities easier to discover.
Under the reported policy, vulnerabilities that can be identified with relatively simple AI-assisted techniques may receive accelerated fixes across maintained Bitcoin Core versions, with security advisories published alongside updates.
Developer Antoine Poinsot reportedly explained that AI tools have reduced the effectiveness of prolonged disclosure embargoes by making vulnerabilities and previously undisclosed fixes easier to identify.
Other vulnerabilities would retain existing disclosure timelines. The change aims to improve patch availability for node operators and does not indicate that Bitcoin $BTC has suffered a new exploit or network compromise.
