U.S. Delays Chip Equipment Export Licenses for SK Hynix’s China Expansion
U.S. officials are delaying export licenses for American chipmaking equipment that SK Hynix ($SKHY) needs to expand its Dalian, China facility, Reuters reports. However, the Commerce Department has not formally denied the applications.
SK Hynix argues that expanding its China operations would help finance Solidigm’s proposed NAND manufacturing plants in Marcy, New York, which would require an estimated $45 billion in initial investment.
Solidigm said no investment decision has been made.
