Jim Cramer says it is a "great opportunity to sell" Rocket Lab ($RKLB) stock after the company disclosed that inspections revealed a flaw in its Neutron rocket requiring a full redesign and process change.
In an Oct. 14 8-K filing, Rocket Lab said engineers found voids, or small air pockets, in the carbon-composite forward dome of Neutron's first-stage propellant tank. Neutron's first launch is now formally pushed to 2027, after being originally targeted for 2024, then 2025, then late 2026.
Shares trade at $53.35 as of Oct. 16, down 64.9% from the all-time high of $151 reached on May 27.
On CNBC's "Mad Money" Lightning Round, Cramer said, "I thought the failure to launch would've hurt it more. I think you're getting a great opportunity to sell, sell, sell."
CFO Adam Spice sold approximately $9.9 million in shares under a pre-arranged trading plan in early October. September CPI also came in above expectations at 3.7% year over year, pushing Treasury yields higher.
Rocket Lab's next earnings report is expected around Nov. 9.
