Retail Investors Pour $170M Into $TLT in Three Days as Treasury Selloff Deepens
Retail investors are aggressively buying the dip in long-duration U.S. Treasuries.
Retail traders bought roughly $61 million of $TLT on Wednesday, their largest daily purchase in at least 12 months.
That followed $59 million of buying on Tuesday and $50 million on Monday, bringing the three-day total to around $170 million.
It marks retail’s largest three-day purchase of $TLT since at least September 2025.
Retail inflows have now exceeded $20 million for six consecutive trading sessions through Wednesday.
Before this week, retail demand for $TLT had not surpassed $50 million in a single trading day at any point in 2026.
The buying comes despite continued weakness in long-duration bonds.
$TLT fell roughly 1.9% this week, bringing its year-to-date decline to around 8%.
The ETF is now down about 55% from its 2020 peak, its largest drawdown on record.
Retail investors appear to be betting that the Treasury selloff is becoming stretched and that elevated long-term yields will eventually reverse.
