Eli Ben-Sasson Warns Crypto Projects Must Prepare for Both Quantum and AI Security Threats

Cryptography researcher Eli Ben-Sasson has warned that post-quantum security and post-AI security are separate challenges, urging cryptocurrency projects to prepare for both.
Post-quantum cryptography focuses on protecting digital signatures and other cryptographic systems against attacks from sufficiently powerful quantum computers. AI-related security risks involve a different range of threats, including more sophisticated exploitation, automated attacks and weaknesses in software systems.
Preparing for one does not automatically address the other. Blockchain developers may need to strengthen cryptographic foundations while also improving software security, monitoring and incident response.
The warning highlights the importance of treating long-term cryptographic resilience and emerging AI-enabled attack capabilities as distinct security priorities.
