$CORE Hits All-Time Low After Attacker Exploits Zero-Withdrawal Bug to Drain 97M Tokens
Core DAO's $CORE reportedly plunged 12% to a new all-time low following a security exploit that drained approximately 97 million tokens from Bitcoin staking protocol b14g.
The stolen tokens were valued at roughly $1.47 million, according to the report. CORE has fallen more than 22% over the past week and is reportedly 99.8% below its 2023 peak of $6.14.
Blockchain analytics firm Bitquery identified an unusual vulnerability involving 91 staking orders.
According to its analysis, the attacker submitted withdrawal requests for zero CORE, but the protocol's code interpreted those requests as instructions to withdraw the entire staked balance.
The incident highlights how a seemingly minor smart contract logic error can expose substantial user funds.
The reported losses and exploit mechanism still require confirmation through transaction records and official protocol disclosures.
For $CORE holders, the immediate concerns are remaining protocol exposure, potential compensation and whether confidence can recover after another sharp price decline.
