12 Years Since Bitcoin Pioneer Hal Finney Passed Away

12 years ago today, Bitcoin lost one of its earliest pioneers.
Hal Finney was the first person known to receive a Bitcoin transaction directly from Satoshi Nakamoto.
He also ran Bitcoin software in its earliest days and became one of the first people to seriously engage with the project.
His famous “Running bitcoin” post from January 2009 remains one of the most recognizable moments in Bitcoin history.
Finney passed away in 2014 after battling ALS.
More than a decade later, his role in Bitcoin’s earliest history is still remembered across the crypto community.
