Google Sends AI Chips Into Orbit With SpaceX

Google has launched AI chips into orbit aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 to test whether AI computing infrastructure could eventually operate in space.
The mission sent Google's TPUs into low Earth orbit as part of Project Suncatcher, testing their ability to withstand launch forces, radiation, extreme temperatures and cooling challenges.
The longer-term concept is to take advantage of near-continuous sunlight in orbit, which Google says could provide up to 8x more solar energy than Earth-based panels.
Elon Musk said space-based AI data centers could become viable within two to three years. $GOOGL closed down 1.7% that day at $334.
