$CART Explores Sale as $UBER and $DASH Hold Preliminary Talks

Instacart is reportedly exploring a potential sale and has held preliminary discussions with Uber and DoorDash.
$CART, currently valued at roughly $12 billion, is working with an investment bank as it evaluates strategic options, according to The Information.
Both $UBER and $DASH have reportedly participated in early-stage discussions.
This is not the first time Instacart and DoorDash have explored a combination.
In 2021, the two companies discussed a potential transaction valued at roughly $40 billion to $50 billion, but those negotiations ultimately fell apart.
Instacart is entering the latest talks from a stronger operating position.
The company reported $1.04 billion in Q2 revenue, up 14% year over year, while generating approximately $480 million in free cash flow.
A deal could strengthen either buyer’s position in grocery delivery and expand their reach across local commerce.
But any acquisition by a major delivery competitor would likely attract significant antitrust scrutiny.
For now, discussions remain preliminary and there is no guarantee that $CART will ultimately be sold.
