$NVDA CEO Jensen Huang Owns 870 Million Shares, Worth About $201 Billion

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is the company's largest executive shareholder, according to TheStreet. He owned 870 million shares, or 3.58% of the company, as of March 23, 2026, per Nvidia's 2026 proxy statement. At an early October 2026 share price of $231.49, those shares were worth about $201 billion. Forbes estimates his net worth at around $200 billion.
Huang is the largest known individual, non-institutional $NVDA shareholder. However, under SEC rules, investors who own less than 5% of a public company aren't required to disclose their stakes, so other individuals could hold larger stakes than his.
Nvidia's largest institutional shareholders include BlackRock (7.43%) and Vanguard Capital Management (7.31%).
How Huang built his stake:
- He founded Nvidia in 1993. In 1999, the year before the first of six stock splits, he owned 2.9 million shares, a 9.9% stake.
- Had he kept all of those shares, he would have held almost 2.8 billion split-adjusted shares from 2000 to 2024. His current stake indicates he has sold some since then.
- In fiscal 2025, Huang received $35.5 million in compensation, including a $1.5 million base salary, a $3 million cash bonus, and $31 million in equity through 936,771 performance stock units.
