Apple CEO John Ternus and Meta's Mark Zuckerberg Team Up to Run Meta's New AI Model on Mac Studio

Meta ($META) CEO Mark Zuckerberg publicly thanked Apple ($AAPL) CEO John Ternus on Oct. 15 for helping Meta's newest AI model run on Apple's desktop computers. The model "runs great on new Mac Studios thanks to work with and Apple," Zuckerberg wrote, according to CNBC.
Meta released downloadable weights for Muse Spark Open, an 816-billion-parameter model that developers can run on two to four linked Mac Studio machines, CNBC reported. Only about 42 billion parameters work on any given word. The companies had not publicly partnered since around 2017, and neither side disclosed financial terms.
A Mac Studio with the M5 Ultra chip and 256 GB of memory starts at $10,799. Meta spent $30.12 billion on capital expenditures in Q2 alone.
Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan warned on Sept. 29 that AI agents like Meta's Muse could capture shopping, referrals, and payments that now flow through Apple's ecosystem. Apple slipped 0.28% to $342.00 on Oct. 15, while Meta dipped 0.11% to $736.72.
