Public Company Could Dump Its Entire $450M Bitcoin Treasury Over Quantum Computing Fears
Nasdaq-listed Next Technology Holding $NXTT has reportedly authorized the potential sale or pledging of its entire Bitcoin treasury: 5,833 $BTC worth approximately $450 million.
The company's board cited concerns about future quantum computing threats to Bitcoin's cryptography, alongside hacking incidents and cryptocurrency exchange security risks.
Under the authorization, the company could sell its holdings through exchanges or private transactions, or pledge the Bitcoin as collateral for loans.
However, the company explicitly stated that no transaction is guaranteed. Board approval does not mean the Bitcoin has already been sold.
Quantum computing also remains a potential long-term security challenge rather than evidence that Bitcoin's cryptography has already been compromised.
The bigger question is whether security concerns will push other corporate Bitcoin holders to reconsider their treasury strategies.
