Binance Raises Market Maker Rebates to Restore Liquidity After $6.3B Hack
Binance is reportedly increasing rebates for smaller market makers as it works to strengthen trading liquidity following its recent $6.3 billion security incident.
According to Bloomberg, the exchange has adjusted its incentives to encourage more market makers to provide liquidity.
Market makers help maintain order book depth by continuously placing buy and sell orders. Rebates can make that activity more attractive, particularly when trading conditions become volatile.
Stronger participation could help narrow bid-ask spreads and reduce the price impact of large trades.
However, higher rebates do not guarantee that liquidity will return to previous levels, especially while security concerns and withdrawal pressure persist.
The effectiveness of the changes will depend on whether order book depth improves and market makers remain active after the incentives take effect.
