Unity Shares Surge 23% After First GAAP Profit Since IPO

Unity Software $U shares reportedly jumped 23% following third-quarter results that marked the company's first GAAP profit since its initial public offering.
Revenue grew 32% year over year, while sales and marketing expenses declined 38%. The combination of stronger growth and lower operating costs helped drive a substantial improvement in profitability.
Unity also reportedly expects its advertising business to more than double in the following quarter, reflecting momentum in its Grow Solutions operations and Vector advertising technology.
The company has added approximately $587 million in cash during the year, strengthening its financial position as it continues its operational turnaround.
The sharp share-price reaction reflects investor enthusiasm for the earnings improvement, although sustaining that performance will depend on continued advertising growth and expense discipline.
