Putin Reportedly Proposes Trump-Xi Summit as US-Russia Peace Talks Advance
Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly proposed a meeting with US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping next month to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The proposal reportedly emerged during an October 9 conversation between Putin and Trump, which also involved an arrangement for US purchases of Russian diesel.
Trump says he postponed additional sanctions to maintain diplomatic engagement with Moscow and claims significant progress toward a potential peace agreement. He has also publicly criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky over the negotiations.
However, no trilateral summit or peace settlement has been confirmed. Ukraine's participation, territorial disputes and security guarantees remain major unresolved issues.
