CZ Says AI Crypto Hacking Fears Are Overblown, but Social Engineering Risk Is Rising

CZ says fears that AI will directly break crypto security are being overstated.
His argument is that Bitcoin and major crypto systems already rely on stronger cryptography than much of the infrastructure used across the broader internet and banking system.
That makes a direct AI-driven break of Bitcoin’s core cryptography a much harder problem than many headlines suggest.
But CZ says the bigger threat is elsewhere.
AI does not need to defeat Bitcoin’s encryption to cause serious damage.
Leaked personal data can already be used to improve phishing, impersonation, social engineering and other attacks targeting users rather than the protocol itself.
As AI systems become better at generating convincing messages, voices and identities, those attack vectors could become significantly more scalable.
For crypto holders, the distinction matters.
The core network may remain secure while individual users, exchanges and custodians become easier targets.
The bigger cybersecurity risk from AI may therefore come from exploiting human behavior rather than cracking blockchain cryptography.
