Robinhood Chain Memecoin Trading Exposes Tokenized Stock Price Risks

Robinhood built its blockchain infrastructure to bring stocks on-chain, but traders quickly began using tokenized equities as counterparties for memecoin speculation.
Daily volume in memecoins traded against tokenized stocks reached roughly $440 million in early September before collapsing, with memecoin-stock pairs generating $217 million on the peak day.
In one extreme example, a memecoin called BONER accumulated exposure equivalent to 53% of tokenized HIMS's float over a single weekend, pushing the tokenized asset far above the price of the underlying stock. The episode highlights a key risk for tokenized equities: their market price can diverge from the shares they are designed to track.
