Uniswap Marks Its Ethereum Launch Anniversary After $4 Trillion in Cumulative Trading Volume

Uniswap launched on Ethereum in 2018, helping shape the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.
In 2020, the protocol distributed 150 million UNI tokens to early users and liquidity providers. Each of the 251,534 eligible wallets that had previously used Uniswap received at least 400 UNI, helping spark the era of major DeFi airdrops.
At the May 2021 peak of $44.92, 400 UNI was worth approximately $17,970. At the cited price of $7.18, the same allocation is worth around $2,870 today.
Eight years after launch, Uniswap has processed approximately $4 trillion in cumulative trading volume and accounts for about 26% of total DEX volume.
