SpaceX Selects Qualcomm ($QCOM) to Supply Chips and Software for Starlink Mobile's 5G Network

SpaceX ($SPCX) has selected Qualcomm ($QCOM) to supply chips and software for Starlink Mobile's nationwide 5G network, with deployment expected to begin in 2027 across tens of thousands of U.S. cell sites.
Qualcomm already provides satellite-capable smartphone modems and will now supply base station technology as well.
This puts Qualcomm on both ends of a network SpaceX is building to compete with Verizon ($VZ), AT&T ($T), and T-Mobile ($TMUS).
