Coinbase CEO Says Crypto Wins Regardless of the CLARITY Act Vote
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong says the crypto industry will gain regulatory clarity regardless of how the CLARITY Act vote turns out.
“If it passes, we get legislation,” Armstrong said.
“If it doesn’t pass, the SEC and CFTC are ready to issue rules.”
The Senate is expected to vote on the bill on September 15, with Armstrong saying the legislation is “ready to get a YES vote” and that senators he has spoken with are supportive.
The main unresolved issue, according to Armstrong, is ethics rules governing digital-asset holdings by government officials.
For $COIN and the broader crypto industry, either outcome could reduce one of the sector’s biggest long-term uncertainties: the lack of a clear U.S. regulatory framework.
A successful vote would establish clarity through legislation, while failure could accelerate rulemaking directly from the SEC and CFTC.
Either path could give crypto companies clearer rules for operating, investing and launching products in the U.S.
