Semiconductor Stocks Rebound in Premarket Trading After $3.5 Trillion US Market Rout
US semiconductor stocks staged a sharp premarket rebound on Friday after Thursday's technology selloff, with the sector reportedly recovering approximately $500 billion in indicated market value. Nasdaq 100 futures rose around 1.5%, according to market reports cited by the Financial Times.
Micron $MU led the recovery with a 9.2% premarket gain, followed by AMD $AMD and SanDisk $SNDK at 8.3% each. Arm $ARM rose 7.4%, TSMC $TSM gained 6.3%, and Intel $INTC advanced 6.2%.
The iShares Semiconductor ETF $SOXX climbed 5.9%, while Nvidia $NVDA gained 5.0%, Broadcom $AVGO rose 4.9%, SK Hynix's US-listed shares advanced 4.7%, and Qualcomm $QCOM added 3.4%.
The recovery follows a 6.4% decline in the Nasdaq 100 on Thursday, when concerns over AI regulation and infrastructure spending triggered heavy selling across chipmakers.
Premarket gains suggest some stabilization after the selloff, but the indicated $500 billion recovery remains provisional. Actual market capitalization changes will depend on regular-session trading and closing prices.
