US Tokenization Push Accelerates Despite CLARITY Act Setback
The US crypto and tokenization push is continuing despite the Senate blocking the CLARITY Act in a 49-50 vote.
Within 48 hours, the SEC approved on-chain trading of tokenized US stocks, while the CFTC told Wall Street to prepare for broader tokenization. Regulators have also advanced crypto market and custody proposals, approved leveraged Bitcoin and Ether ETPs, and discussed expanded stock-trading hours with major exchanges and market participants.
NYSE has signed a deal aimed at bringing tokenized stocks to 44 million crypto accounts, while BlackRock, DTCC, Visa and Mastercard have become validators on Circle's Arc blockchain. Bitcoin ETFs have also attracted $3 billion across nine consecutive days.
The next major milestone could come from DTCC, which holds more than $114 trillion in assets and is set to launch its tokenization service in October. US stocks are also expected to move toward 23-hour trading from December 6, while the CLARITY Act could still return after a motion to reconsider.
