JetBlue Raises Checked Bag Fees for the Third Time in 2026, With Peak Prices Reaching $70
JetBlue Airways has increased checked baggage fees for the third time this year, citing persistently high jet fuel prices and rising operating costs. The latest changes took effect Nov. 3 and apply to new bookings.
For economy travelers on North American flights, the first checked bag now costs $50 when purchased at least 24 hours before departure, up from $45, and $60 when purchased within 24 hours of departure. During peak holiday and summer periods, the fees rise to $55 in advance and $70 for last-minute purchases.
The second checked bag fee has also increased from $70 to $75, reaching $85 during peak travel periods. JetBlue said the adjustments would help offset higher costs while keeping base fares competitive. Travelers who booked before Nov. 3 will retain the previous baggage rates, while eligible JetBlue Plus, Premium, and Business cardholders can still receive a waiver for their first checked bag.
