South Korea Unveils $120B US Nuclear Plan and $22.3B Texas Gas Project

South Korea says it plans to invest $120B to build eight nuclear reactors in the US, including two using its APR1400 design, although specific projects have not yet been selected.
Seoul and Washington also launched a $22.3B gas power project in Texas expected to supply 6.47 GW to AI data centers, with commercial operations targeted for 2029.
South Korea is also seeking potential investments by Korean companies in Westinghouse, while the two countries will review an Alaska LNG pipeline and export terminal subject to commercial and legal conditions.
Under a legally binding operating agreement, South Korea's US investments are capped at $20B annually, with profits split 50-50 until Korea recoups its principal on each project. South Korea's industry minister also said the US indicated tariffs on South Korean goods would remain at 15%, according to Yonhap.
