US Treasuries Post Worst Month in Four Years
US Treasuries posted their worst month in four years, according to the FT, as long-term yields surged during September.
The 10-year Treasury yield climbed more than half a percentage point during the month to around 5.3%, its sharpest monthly rise since September 2022. The 30-year yield is trading at its highest level since June 2002.
Investors say rising yields are forcing some funds, including holders of mortgage bonds, to sell Treasuries, creating additional upward pressure on yields. JPMorgan Asset Management's Priya Misra described the dynamic as a "vicious loop."
