$CRWV CEO Says Older GPUs Could Have Longer Useful Lives Than Expected

CoreWeave ($CRWV) CEO says “older generations of GPUs are going to have a longer useful life than anyone anticipated” as the company signs a fully priced A100 contract through 2029 for hardware first launched in 2020.
The deal suggests 2020-era GPUs can continue monetizing already-powered facilities where newer systems may not physically fit, while frontier workloads move to newer architectures and inference shifts down the stack.
Nvidia’s ($NVDA) CUDA ecosystem reinforces this model by continuously optimizing Ampere, Hopper, and Blackwell, allowing the same workloads to require less compute over time without necessarily forcing a hardware replacement.
