Trump Signals Iran Action Could Come Soon as Brent Crude Hits $112

President Donald Trump is signaling that the U.S.-Iran standoff may be approaching another major decision point.
Asked about negotiations with Tehran, Trump said the U.S. is “not negotiating” and that “something one way or the other” could happen fairly soon.
He also said most people expect any action after the U.S. midterm elections, leaving the exact timing uncertain.
The New York Times has reported that U.S. and Israeli officials have prepared options for renewed strikes on Iran after the midterms, although no operation has been approved.
That follows Trump’s October 8 statement that the U.S. would not attack Iran before the November 3 elections, showing how quickly the diplomatic and military outlook continues to shift.
Energy markets are already reacting to the uncertainty.
Brent crude climbed above $112 per barrel on October 22, reaching its highest level since May as Middle East supply and shipping risks intensified.
For markets, the biggest risk is another escalation that disrupts Gulf energy flows and keeps oil elevated.
That could feed directly into inflation expectations, global bond yields and broader risk sentiment.
For now, renewed strikes remain a possibility rather than a confirmed decision, but geopolitical risk is once again being priced aggressively into oil.
