Jensen Huang at G20: One Gigawatt of AI Costs $50-60 Billion, Roughly 2x a Leading-Edge Fab
Speaking at the G20, $NVDA CEO Jensen Huang summed up the AI buildout economics, saying energy has historically been monetized in dollars per kilowatt-hour, but "today, it's dollars per million tokens."
Huang put the cost of one gigawatt of AI infrastructure at roughly $50-60 billion, noting that a leading-edge semiconductor fab used to be considered a $25 billion mega-project — meaning one gigawatt of AI is now roughly twice that cost.
