Moderna Passes Phase 3 Trial for Personalized Cancer Vaccine

Moderna's personalized mRNA cancer vaccine, developed with Merck, is custom-designed from a patient's own tumor after surgery rather than being a standard off-the-shelf drug. The vaccine trains the immune system to recognize and attack that specific cancer if it returns.
The vaccine met its goals in a Phase 3 trial for melanoma, with lung cancer studies also underway. The companies believe the same personalized approach could eventually be applied to other cancer types.
