BREAKING: Iran Confirms Shipping Route Deal With Oman for Strait of Hormuz

Iran has officially confirmed a shipping route agreement with Oman for the Strait of Hormuz, saying the two coastal states reached the deal independently without U.S. involvement.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said a joint statement is still being drafted. The agreement would establish new shipping lanes, but does not mean the strait will immediately reopen. Iran says reopening depends on the U.S. correcting what Tehran calls its violations and meeting its conditions. Reuters previously reported that the strait carried about one-fifth of global oil and LNG shipments before the blockade.
The development comes amid a deadly shipping crisis in the region, with 17 seafarers reported killed and Trump threatening to designate the Strait of Hormuz as U.S. territory.
