TSMC Produces More Than 90% of the World's Most Advanced Chips, King's College London Research Says
The AI boom runs through Taiwan. According to 2026 research from King's College London, TSMC ($TSM) produces more than 90% of the world's most advanced semiconductor chips.
Those chips power AI accelerators, data centers and high-performance computing.
The author says the AI race may be global, but one of its most critical dependencies is concentrated on a single island. In the author's view, Taiwan is not just part of the AI supply chain but one of its biggest chokepoints.
