Germany's Sparkasse Network Begins Rolling Out Crypto Trading to Banking Customers
Germany's Sparkasse savings bank network has reportedly begun introducing cryptocurrency trading through its mobile banking application, expanding access to digital assets within traditional financial services.
The first participating savings banks launched the service on October 19, offering access to Bitcoin $BTC, Ethereum $ETH, XRP $XRP, Solana $SOL and Polygon $POL.
The service, branded Krypto: powered by Deka, involves DekaBank and infrastructure provided by Börse Stuttgart.
Sparkasse's network serves nearly 50 million customers, creating a potentially significant distribution channel for cryptocurrency investment.
However, the rollout is limited initially to participating institutions, meaning the entire customer base does not automatically have access. Adoption will depend on individual banks, eligibility and customer demand.
