Cathie Wood Says Extended Consolidation in Gene-Editing Stocks Sets Up Major Breakout
Cathie Wood stated that "the longer the base, the bigger the breakout," arguing that multi-year consolidation could set up major upside across gene-editing stocks.
Wood highlighted that CRISPR Therapeutics ($CRSP), Intellia Therapeutics ($NTLA), Beam Therapeutics ($BEAM), and Prime Medicine ($PRME) have traded sideways for years despite substantial clinical and operational progress. She compared the sector to Amazon ($AMZN) following the dot-com bust, noting that it took years for the market to fully appreciate the company's long-term potential.
With milestones in safety, efficacy, FDA approvals, and reimbursement increasingly checked off, Wood believes the sector may finally have the catalysts required to trigger a larger breakout.
