U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright Calls for an Electricity Revolution to Fuel Manufacturing and AI

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright has asserted that the United States requires a sweeping electricity revolution, arguing that heavy regulation and sluggish permitting have severely constrained power production even as broader U.S. energy output surges.
Wright pointed out that electricity-intensive industries have been forced to move overseas because developing major power-generating assets domestically has become overly burdensome. While oil and natural gas sectors thrived on private capital and entrepreneurial drive, electricity infrastructure remained heavily restricted.
Emphasizing that supporting domestic manufacturing and maintaining leadership in artificial intelligence will require tens or hundreds of gigawatts of new generating capacity, Wright stressed that the dynamic transformation previously seen in oil and gas must now be replicated in the electricity sector.
