Anthropic CEO Says AI Could Eliminate Half of Entry-Level White-Collar Jobs Within 1–5 Years

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is warning that AI could dramatically reshape entry-level white-collar employment within the next several years.
Amodei says as many as 50% of entry-level roles across fields such as law, consulting and finance could potentially disappear within 1–5 years.
His thesis is that increasingly capable AI systems will automate a large portion of the research, analysis, drafting and other routine work currently performed by junior professionals.
That could fundamentally change how firms build their talent pipelines.
Many industries traditionally rely on large groups of entry-level workers who learn through repetitive tasks before moving into more senior positions.
If AI absorbs much of that work, companies may need fewer junior employees while placing greater value on workers who can supervise AI systems, make higher-level decisions and manage client relationships.
Amodei’s estimate is a forecast rather than a certainty, but it highlights one of the biggest economic questions surrounding advanced AI: whether productivity gains arrive faster than labor markets can adapt.
