Trump Says He Is “Very Seriously” Considering a U.S. Diesel Export Ban

President Trump says his administration is “very seriously” considering a ban on U.S. diesel exports.
“We’re looking at it very seriously. We may do it,” Trump said.
The proposal is aimed at keeping more diesel supply inside the U.S. as domestic fuel prices remain elevated.
Trump also acknowledged that restricting diesel exports could have unintended consequences, including potentially putting some upward pressure on gasoline prices.
A ban could increase domestic diesel availability in the short term, but it would also reduce U.S. supply to overseas markets already dealing with significant shortages.
That could create major implications for refiners, global fuel trade, shipping and inflation.
For energy markets, the key question is whether the administration moves from considering restrictions to actually implementing them.
