Anthropic saw a half-trillion-dollar coding market

Anthropic reportedly identified coding as a half-trillion-dollar AI market as early as 2025.
The logic was simple.
If developers were already spending around $100 per day on tokens, that could translate into tens of thousands of dollars per coder per year.
Scale that across roughly 20 million coders globally, and the market becomes enormous.
The important part is that this estimate was based on technology that was already months old.
Coding may be one of the first AI categories where usage, willingness to pay, and productivity gains all show up at once.
