$APP Selloff Puts the Spotlight on Consumer Advertising Growth
AppLovin $APP says its largest long-term opportunity remains consumer advertising, where spending ended Q2 28% above Q4 2025 levels despite advertisers typically scaling new channels gradually.
That continued expansion makes the nearly 20% post-earnings selloff look aggressive, but investors are clearly reassessing how predictable $APP's growth can be when improvements to its advertising models arrive unevenly.
The next test is straightforward: AppLovin needs to show that Q2's slower model progress was a temporary research-timing issue rather than a sign of structural deceleration.
If consumer advertising continues expanding beyond mobile gaming while model performance reaccelerates, the current pullback could look very different in hindsight.
